The following will appear in Saturday's match programme but I thought it would be a good idea to submit it onto the forum as well.

First of all I would like to thank all of you who attended the recent Annual General Meeting of the Supporters Association. Whilst we obviously missed our other 123 Members (and Management Committee) who were unable to attend, I thought I would take this opportunity to let you all know what we have been up to over the past 12 months.
For the first time in three years, the Supporters Association Committee has actually increased in number - Don Brown retired as our Treasurer following his “free transfer” to Bexhill and we have welcomed Brian Toseland and Dave Couldridge onto the Committee.
For those of you who are unaware, the Supporters Association currently run and maintain the Club Shop (which leaks like a sieve!), we undertake the stewarding of home matches, we maintain and run the PA system as well as hosting the end of season presentation evening and various other social functions throughout the year. We also try to undertake various “projects” around the ground whenever we can (weather and matches permitting). Our income is derived from your membership fees, golden goal tickets, the club shop and our various social functions.
Our monthly quiz nights continue to be well attended by supporters and non-supporters alike (even though some participants are unable to recognise Cameron Diaz - eh Dan?). In addition, the Association also hosted three 60’s and 70’s Disco’s over the past 12 months. The first was an outstanding success with the main bar packed to capacity and bar staff ran off their feet, the second saw a reduction in numbers by about a third and our last attempt was a complete flop!.
Notwithstanding some of our “failures” we continue to pay for the pest controllers (Vermin, Wasps, Moles - we’ve had them all!), we sponsored the medical room and players kit, we purchased a new chain harrow for the ground staff and made cash donations to the Football Club - in all, our total donations to the Football Club amounted to £2,575.
The Club Shop also registered as an agent for the Blueball Lottery in order for those of you who do not wish to complete a direct debit mandate to still partake in the Lottery.
On a much smaller scale, we share some of the same frustrations with the Club in our own fund raising efforts - even though our donations to the Club have increased by 25% over the past three years, the total amount donated to the Club last year didn’t even pay a weeks wages! (According to the Chairman’s figures in the Courier last week). We do, of course, fully appreciate that some of you just cannot afford to keep putting your hands in your pockets or maybe we are not providing you with events that you are prepared to support (if not, let us know – we don’t bite!) or maybe there is a general apathy surrounding the Club (the attendance at our AGM unfortunately suggests the latter!).
We will of course continue with our various fund raising activities throughout the year and we are currently reviewing an excellent proposal put forward by Neil Williams regarding a “Promises Auction”. Unfortunately, this is not an event that can be held overnight and to make it successful we will be asking ALL of you to partake (Players, board members and supporters alike) – you have been warned - watch this space!.
We have also obtained a Manchester United shirt signed by their current first team squad which will probably form part of our Christmas Draw this year – Again, we will let you know when it arrives as well as ticket prices etc.
We still continue to do odd jobs around the ground on Saturday mornings between 9 and 12 if anybody wishes to join us. You may well have noticed a small “test” area of concrete in front of the South Mezzanine Stand that has appeared since our last home game – if we are to progress in Non-League football we need at least one metre of hard standing all around the ground – this small patch of concrete took four people approximately four hours to complete – multiply this around the ground and you will appreciate the effort required just to fulfill the hard standing requirement!.
Our next Quiz Night will be held on Friday 12th December starting at 8pm – Admission is £2 for Association Members and £2.50 for Non-Members. Teams of 2 up to 6.
If you are interested in joining the Supporters Association or becoming a member of the Supporters Association Committee, please do not hesitate to make yourself known to one of the Committee:-
Chairman: Steve Churcher
Vice-Chairman: Toni Jarrett
Treasurer: Brian Toseland
Secretary: Mick Spenceley
Committee Members: Kate Churcher, Ray Clark, Dave Couldridge, Paul Knight, Chris Sawyer and Owen Tingley.
