Obviously I am over the moon we won yesterday but didnt come on here to gloat,There has been some "winding up" on our boards of late but that has been both ways so is not of particular interest to me.I will now attempt to set the record straight over the "incidents" off the pitch.
I have never condoned any form of crowd trouble but as a regular follower have found myself tangled up in it on a few occasions over the years. The "charge" of some of our fans into yours after we scored our second was NOT planned as is written elsewhere but the actions of a few idiots who had drunk too much and thought it would be "funny" to further antagonise your fans. The fact we scored just as our fans passed yours was unfortunate to say the least.
I spent the next 10 minutes trying to placate the situation and was repeatedly assured by the grey haired bloke that the young lady who was pushed over was ok.
I offer no excuses for my fellow supporters behaviour (and yes most involved are regulars) but felt the facts surrounding the situation needed telling. Most including me had been drinking all day and as we all know some just cant handle it!
A lot of your fans came into the bar after the game and it was only a few who were led away "for their own safety".An unfortunate but wise move surely?
The antagonising was not ALL our fault and the old adage play with fire and you will get burnt springs to mind.On more than one occasion before, during and after the match fans of yours were trying to make things worse and not exactly angels(sorry no pun intended)themselves.
We always enjoy the banter that comes out of visiting supporters but on a few occasions sadly(and usually fuelled by alcohol)actions speak louder than word.
As most of you know I have been a regular visitor to this site and was gracious in defeat a few months ago.Hopefully you will be as well.It has been written elsewhere we were lucky to have won so well..(Flukey goals etc)Not according to your manager as he said we could easily have had 5 or 6.By the way he is a top bloke and enjoyed the joke when we presented him with a "collection" for his wages of £1.57 !!
Sorry if I have run on a bit but felt I had to have some sane input to what I am sure will be debated about for a while.Have a good remainder of the season and hopefully all our fans wont be tarnished with the insults that have been printed.
P.S.Never got my pint Charles!!Still waiting.
